Alex Bates

Doctor Alex Bates is a medical doctor.

Biography[]

Before Flight 828[]

At some point in her life Alex married a man named Scott, but despite this she later began a relationship with Saanvi Bahl. She was supposed to go to Jamaica with her, but changed her mind at the last minute as she feared destroying her family for a flirtation, and did not show up for her departure.

During Flight 828[]

Alex later changed her mind and was waiting for Saanvi at JFK on April 7, 2013. However, Flight 828 disappeared along with Saanvi and Alex never told anyone. ("Romeo", "Final Boarding")

After Flight 828[]

When Flight 828 reappeared, she decided not to contact Saanvi.

Some time later Saanvi contacted her because she needed her help with her research, even though she was the last person Saanvi wanted to see again. Alex was sad to learn of Saanvi's feelings toward her, but in the end she helped her, and tried to explain why she hadn't gone with her to Jamaica.

Days later, while Alex was on a run, Saanvi walked out of the hospital and saw her. She approached Alex and kissed her, and after an initial hesitation Alex reciprocated.

Soon after this, Alex came back to the hospital to tell Saanvi that nothing more should happen between them. After telling her the kiss was a mistake, she discovered that Saanvi didn't remember being at the park, or kissing her.

Later, Alex is contacted by Saanvi's friend Zeke, asking for help when her condition gets worse, and they find out she had been experimenting on herself to find the cure for the callings.

Zeke later contacts Alex again when Cal Stone gets sick and refuses to tell his family or Saanvi. Alex confirms that Cal's leukemia has returned and she and Zeke open up to each other with Zeke revealing that he had relapsed and hasn't told his wife yet knowing that it will hurt Michaela even more to know that he kept it a secret. In turn, Alex reveals that she was at JFK on the day that 828 was supposed to land waiting for Saanvi, but she never told her after the plane came back. Alex urges Zeke not to make her mistakes and to be honest with his wife. ("Romeo")

A Calling later leads Ben to Alex, causing him to realize that Cal's leukemia has returned. Alex is able to use Cal's condition to get the Registry to release him into her care. ("Full Upright & Locked Position")

A month later, Alex and Saanvi inform Cal that Saanvi's treatment isn't working this time and his cancer is rapidly progressing. Alex grimly reveals that Cal's condition is terminal with only days left to live. Alex later treats Leo's injuries and joins Leo, Olive, Jared and Zeke on the plane in the Calling revealing that the Death Date is actually the Apocalypse. ("Rendezvous")

A New Timeline[]

Once Saanvi beat the Death Date, she returned to 2013. Alex decided against staying with her husband, telling Saanvi she wanted a family with her. ("Final Boarding")
