Carlos is a character on Manifest. He debuted, with his first appearance, in the seventh episode and is portrayed by Mateo Ferro.
Biography[]
Before Flight 828[]
After losing his parents when he was young, Carlos was taken in by his uncle Enrique, with whom he runs a grocery store. Both live now together.
As a kid, Carlos had congestive heart failure and requires a heart transplant to save him. When another person, named Evie Markes, dies the same night as his accident, Carlos gets Evie's heart. ("S.N.A.F.U.")
After Flight 828[]
One day, a man enters with a gun in his uncle's store to steal money. Carlos begs his uncle to give him the money so they can be safe, but his uncle refuses and the man shoots Enrique before dropping the gun and running away. Carlos tries to save Enrique and sees the gun on the floor. He decides to keep the weapon for revenge later.
A few seconds later, Michaela Stone and Jared Vasquez enter the store and, while Jared chases after the robber, Michaela stays with Carlos to try to save Enrique with CPR. Eventually, they failed and Enrique dies from his wounds, which breaks Carlos' heart as he cries and screams.
Later, Carlos is taken to the police station to identify the robber. But even if he sees him, Carlos doesn't identify him and runs away to get revenge by himself.
At night, Carlos is ready to get his revenge when Michaela knocks at his door and reveals that she knows that he kept the gun. Although he tries to deny it, Michaela tries to convince him not to kill the robber because she knows what it feels like to take someone's life and it's horrible. Carlos says that he has no other choice because he's now alone. Michaela says once again that she knows what he's going through and asks him not to go kill the robber. Instead, she encourages him to go to the police station and turn in the weapon.
After thinking about it, Carlos gives the gun to Jared and Michaela, which surprises Jared because he thought he wouldn't come. Later, Michaela visits Carlos at the store and announces that the robber has been arrested after he tried to rob someone else on the street. Carlos says that he feels guilty about not taking him out because the robber could have hurt someone else. Michaela says that she's happy he didn't do it and that now everyone is safe.
As she's ready to leave, Michaela hears a voice that tells her to look to her left. Michaela sees a photo of Evie and asks Carlos, shocked, how he knows Evie. Carlos tells her that he was the one who received her donated heart. ("S.N.A.F.U.")
On May 31, 2024, a Calling leads Michaela back to Carlos shortly before the Death Date. In the years that have passed, Carlos was drawn to the addiction treatment facility that Michaela's husband Zeke Landon worked at and became Zeke's intern. Carlos offers Michaela advice and helps her learn to forgive herself for Evie's death. Carlos also provides Michaela with a drawing that Zeke had made of the Gemini petrograph. ("Lift/Drag")
