"Destination Unknown" is the eighth episode of the third season of Manifest. It premiered on May 6, 2021 on NBC.

Synopsis

As Mick and Ben join forces to aid a desperate Flight 828 passenger, Saanvi grapples with a discovery at Eureka, and the burden of secrecy that comes with it. Grace and Angelina's bond deepens. A maturing Cal enlists Zeke's help in a personal matter.[src]

Plot

The object in the container is petrified wood, thought to be several thousand years old, that is coated with the same minerals as 828 passengers. Ben and Michaela follow similar callings which lead them to 828 passenger Rachel Hall. Rachel's ex-husband Jonah married her sister Hannah during Rachel's 5+ years absence, but things are not what they seem. Rachel's anger is not with her sister, but with her abusive ex-husband whom she's learned is also abusing Hannah. Ben intervenes to stop Rachel from murdering Jonah. Due to Ben setting off the silent alarm, all three of them are arrested by the police. Michaela is angry with Ben for putting himself in danger, but he says it was necessary to preserve the 828 "lifeboat". As Jonah is being booked, Hannah has agreed to testify on Rachel's behalf. Saanvi determines the petrified wood is about 6,000 years old and contains some animal DNA, later learned to be from a peacock. When Gupta says the wood was expelled from a long-dormant volcano that is revealed to be on Mount Ararat, she and Saanvi discuss the possibility that it could be from Noah's Ark. Elsewhere, Angelina seems to be able to calm Eden whenever she's crying, and Cal tries to use Zeke's empathy power to determine if a girl at school likes him. Also, Michaela and Drea notice that Jared is becoming romantic with Sarah Fitz.
