Emmett Fischer is a character on Manifest. He debuts in the first episode of the second season and is portrayed by co-star Brendan Burke.
Biography[]
Before Flight 828[]
Emmett spent his life in military intelligence. ("Deadhead")
After Flight 828[]
Emmett saves Robert Vance's life during the explosion at the Singularity Project, pulling him out of the tunnels in time. Disguised as a paramedic, Emmett accompanies Vance in the back of an ambulance and helps Vance to fake his own death in order to take down the Major. ("Grounded")
Emmett is present when Vance reveals his survival to Ben Stone after Ben catches Vance's men following him and mistakes them for Xers. ("Fasten Your Seatbelts")
After the Major is accidentally killed by Saanvi Bahl, Emmett cleans up her death scene disguised as a garbage man, narrowly dodging a patrol officer who catches him. Emmett dumps the Major's body in a bog 45 miles east of New Orleans where it's eventually discovered and attributed to an enemy spy operating in the region. ("Water Landing")
After Vance is captured by the Cuban military, Ben reaches out to Emmett for a rescue mission. However, Emmett tells Ben that a rescue mission is impossible, they don't have the resources, and Vance gave direct orders not to involve the government. Emmett assures Ben that if there's a way, Vance will figure it out and Ben needs to stand down. Despite his detached demeanor, Emmett clearly is having a hard time himself, admitting that he's glad that he doesn't have to explain what happened to Vance to Vance's wife and that they're standing down. Instead, Ben later enlists the help of Vance's old deputy Tim Powell to have the government get Vance back. ("Deadhead")
Emmett continues working for Vance even after his return to the NSA and he later informs Vance that Jared Vasquez is getting too close to the truth about the Major's death. ("Tailspin")
As a result, Emmett, going by the alias Special Agent Fischer, is forced to abduct Jared and Vance has Powell feed him a story about the Major getting taken out by enemy spies. ("Water Landing")
Two years after the shutdown of Eureka, Emmett is a part of Vance's new operation out of the Bird's Nest. Vance and Emmett join Michaela, Cal, Zeke and Jared in raiding Adrian Shannon's compound to rescue Ben and Eden. Emmett provides cover with a sniper rifle, but he is unable to get a clean shot on Angelina Meyer. After the explosion, Vance and Emmett stay behind to clean up the mess. ("Go-Around", "Squawk")
Months later, Vance calls Emmett to dispose of Xer Tom Boone and his Sarin gas. ("Furball")
