Thomas Reid is a stowaway on Montego Air Flight 828.
Biography[]
Before Flight 828[]
Living in Jamaica, Thomas was dating a man named Leo, but it was extremely dangerous to be gay in Jamaica. When a friend of the couple was beaten to death, they posted a video calling out the police for not investigating. As a result, Leo and Thomas became targets themselves and had to flee the country. Leo was able to get a plane ticket, but Thomas couldn't get a passport in time, so Leo's cousin Bethany Collins agreed to smuggle him aboard Flight 828. Thomas and Leo agreed to meet at the Angel of the Waters statue at the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park because the Angels of the Waters was a big part of Angels in America, Leo's favorite play. The two planned to then start a new life in America together. ("Unclaimed Baggage")
During Flight 828[]
Thomas stows away disguised as a flight attendant. When the plane disappears and reappears five and a half years later, Thomas is forced to hide in the cargo hold, only coming out once everyone is gone. Although Bethany leaves Thomas money and her cell phone, the phone no longer works after them being gone for years. ("Unclaimed Baggage")
After Flight 828[]
After leaving the plane, Thomas eventually makes his way to the statue, only to find that not only is Leo not there waiting for him, but five and a half years have passed since Flight 828 left. Thinking that he's crazy, people in the park call 911 and Thomas is hospitalized in a psych ward, briefly breaking free and encountering Saanvi Bahl who he tells "it was Bethany, the flight attendant" before being sedated and locked up again. Saanvi is able to track down Bethany who explains to her about Thomas. At the same time, Thomas draws the attention of Robert Vance and the NSA because his fingerprints match those found on the cargo hold hatch, revealing the existence of a previously unknown stowaway. However, before either the NSA or Bethany and Saanvi can reach him, Thomas manages to escape and returns to the statue where Bethany, Saanvi and Michaela Stone find him thanks to a Calling of the angel statue telling them to "save him." Bethany is forced to tell a devastated Thomas that they really have been gone for over five years and Leo went missing two years after they disappeared. Michaela promises to help Thomas find his boyfriend if Leo's still alive and he agrees to go with them. Thomas is added as John Doe to Vance's Persons of Interest board, replacing deceased passenger Kelly Taylor. ("Unclaimed Baggage")
The three and Ben Stone hide Thomas in the boiler room of a building owned by Kelly where Thomas detoxes from the Haldol that the hospital had him on. With the NSA hunting for him, Bethany plans to smuggle Thomas to a cabin owned by a friend of her wife's, but she's arrested by Vance while Cal Stone is drawn to Thomas' hiding spot. As Ben prepares to help Thomas escape, Bethany's wife Georgia arrives to take him to the cabin in Bethany's place. In the process, Cal displays a strange ability to receive information from an unknown source which leads him to Thomas. ("Unclaimed Baggage", "Connecting Flights")
Years later, Michaela, Ben, Saanvi, Cal and Thomas share a Calling where the plane is in a nosedive and Zeke Landon, Olive Stone, and Jared Vasquez are in Michaela, Ben and Cal's seats. In the Calling, Thomas is pulling at the cargo hatch like his life depends on it. However, Bethany lost contact with Thomas a year before, so they aren't able to contact him.
Later, Michaela, Saanvi, Eagan Tehrani and Kenroy are drawn to the boiler room where Thomas had been hiding out. Discovering that Thomas had painted a heart with Leo's name in the middle of it while in hiding, Kenroy reveals himself to be Leo who had been convinced that the plane disappearing was God's way of punishing him and Thomas for their love. After the group finds the Omega Sapphire, the room partially collapses and Eagan escapes with the Sapphire, locking the others in. However, Thomas is drawn back to the boiler room by a Calling and rescues the group, finally reuniting with Leo. The two affirm that despite all of the years that have passed, they still love each other deeply and Thomas and Leo head off together after Dr. Alex Bates treats Leo's injuries. Along with Michaela, Ben, Cal and Saanvi, Thomas is drawn into a Calling revealing that the Death Date is actually the Apocalypse. ("Rendezvous")
Thomas is one of the passengers locked up in the 828 Detention Center and he helps Bethany to manage resources 8 months after the isolation protocol is enacted. ("Threshold")
On the Death Date, Thomas joins the other passengers at Storm King Mountain, lamenting to Bethany about having to be separated from Leo yet again. When the plane returns thanks to Cal combining his Omega Sapphire with the one in Noah's Ark, Thomas joins the other passengers in boarding the plane, helping Bethany to shut the door after everyone is onboard. Sitting in one of the crew's seats at the back, Thomas survives the Last Trial and beats the Death Date. Due to his positioning, Thomas ends up behind the shadowy figure that emerges to judge everyone and as such, he's not among the passengers that confronts it. Once it's gone, Thomas quips that a couple of more seconds and the thing would've gotten peed on. ("Final Boarding")
A New Timeline[]
After the passengers beat the Death Date, they are returned to April 7, 2013. As Michaela leaves the airport, she sees Thomas getting into a taxi to meet Leo at the statute and gives directions to the driver for him as she runs by. ("Final Boarding")
