Tom Boone was a member of the Xers.
Biography[]
Before Flight 828[]
On February 3, 2009, Tom was arrested in New Rochelle for disorderly conduct after assaulting a bartender over an unpaid bar tab. When he was arrested, Tom refused to identify himself. The victim was taken to the hospital and subsequently with a laceration on his cheek and minor injuries. The bartender ultimately chose not to press charges against Tom. ("Furball")
After Flight 828[]
Following the return of Flight 828, Tom becomes an Xer. An NSA file on him dated June 5, 2020, reports 213 posts on Xer forums threatening 828ers traced back to Tom's IP address. The posts contained threats against the passengers and their families. Three fake accounts linked to Tom's IP address posted the home addresses of 828ers and encouraged other Xers to dox their residences. 15 of Tom's posts fabricate false criminal histories of 20 passengers, alleging convictions for assault, disorderly conduct, stalking, and menacing. Tom also has an arrest for attacking an 828er.
After the opening of the 828 Detention Center, Tom's job with Every Queen Cooling has him accessing the exterior of the building and pumping in Freon.
Tom introduces himself to Jared Vasquez as his new neighbor when Jared, Michaela and Steve move into Tarik's house. Tom blames 828ers for the murders of Tarik and a cop by Jace Baylor a few years before and offers his help if Jared ever needs anything. Tom later spots Michaela jogging past his house and immediately recognizes her as an 828er.
Cal Stone gets a Calling where he can't breathe which points him to Tom's company van. Robert Vance identifies Tom as a dangerous Xer and he and Cal track the van.
Pretending to be trapped under his van, Tom ambushes Michaela and tries to strangle her to death. However, Cal and Vance arrive just in time and Cal hits Tom over the back of the head, saving Michaela. In the back of Tom's van the three find cannisters of Sarin gas that Tom was planning to pump into the detention center and kill everyone inside the next day. Vance sends Michaela and Cal away and calls in Emmett Fischer to dispose of Tom and his gas. ("Furball")
Trivia[]
- Although he is only credited as "Tom," his full name can be seen on the NSA files about Tom that Vance and Cal look over.
- It's unclear if Tom was killed by Cal or just knocked out and killed by Emmett later. However, Vance is shown calling Emmett for "trash pickup," meaning getting rid of Tom's body the same way that Emmett did the Major's as seen in "Water Landing".
