Plot[]
The police investigate the death of fellow 828 passenger Kelly Taylor. Michaela and Ben go to her residence, learning that jewelry was taken from her corpse by the murderer. According to her husband Patrick, a voice in her head (a "Calling", as she named it) told her to reach out to the media on her experiences. Patrick and his housekeeper Christine further tell them that Kelly's Calling to "own her truth" made her feel guilty about her decadent lifestyle and led to her being surveilled by the NSA. Shortly before her death, Kelly had a hair appointment at a mall owned by the Taylors and came back with bruised arms.
Investigating at this mall, they learn that Patrick only rents its stores to illegal immigrants and takes a large proportion of their profits in exchange for not alerting the authorities. One of the tenants saw Kelly and attacked her, thinking she wanted to collect money, when in reality she was looking to shut the mall down and end her unscrupulous businesses. Shortly after, Patrick is arrested. When interrogating Isaiah, the suspect for Kelly's murder, Michaela learns he is part of a movement that believes that the 828 passengers were brought back from death.
Stumbling into Kelly's wake triggers Michaela's memories of being chased away by Evie's parents when she appeared at Evie's wake. Michaela finds herself sharing Kelly's previous Calling to "own her truth", and visits Evie's parents to reconcile. She discovers Evie's mother, Beverly, has been mentally broken by the loss of her daughter. Later, Beverly goes missing and Michaela overcomes her fear of driving to search for her.
The storylines of Kelly's and Evie's deaths connect when Michaela swerves into the path of an oncoming car to protect a delirious Beverly. The oncoming car crashes and when Michaela goes to check, she finds the Taylors' housekeeper Christine behind the wheel, along with the jewelry stolen from Kelly after the murder. Christine confesses to murdering Kelly out of jealousy after having fallen for Patrick while flight 828 was missing, and is arrested. Thereafter, Michaela is on good terms with Evie's parents.
Aware that Jared helped Michaela gather information about the Taylors, Vance enlists the former's help in keeping tabs on the latter. After Michaela happens to solve Kelly's murder, Jared becomes suspicious of her. Michaela asks him for time to figure out how flight 828 changed her, and he later destroys Vance's business card, refusing to spy on Michaela for the NSA.
Olive sneaks out of the house to see her boyfriend Kevin, who used to be Cal's best friend. Cal notices and later rats her out to Ben. When Olive confronts her brother over this, Cal expresses his feelings that the two of them have grown too far apart because of flight 828. The twins later reconcile.
Grace resolves to break things off with her lover Danny, but feels guilty about it. While searching his house for NSA surveillance devices, Ben finds unfamiliar condoms under his and Grace's bed, and when he asks her whether she loves Danny, she evades the question.
Saanvi's tests on her and Cal's blood give the same results as seen in sufferers of ischemic strokes, which occur when blood flow to the brain is interrupted. She theorizes that the 828 passengers may have been brought very close to death and then brought back. When trying to track down Kelly's corpse for a brain tissue sample, she finds it suspiciously missing from coroner intake and medical examiner registries. Elsewhere, the NSA takes in Kelly's corpse for examination.

Trivia[]
- Beverly has dementia, preventing her from being able to accept Mick's apology.
- When Michaela and Ben chase Tami through the mall, a digital clock gives the time as 8:28, another 828 reference.
- Christine forgets her place. She's NOT the wife/partner of Patrick (who is obviously more concerned Kelly died again); she is, in her own words, "the help". Even Jared points it out.
- Kelly was going to blow the whistle on Patrick for housing illegal immigrants in his mall's basement, which would have put him in jail and/or cause a massive law suit.
- Olive is dating Kevin, Cal's best friend.
- Cal is lashing out because he's lost everything familiar to him; being 5 years younger than everyone else is too much for him.
